Mite Be a Problem? How to Keep Your Chickens Pest-Free

These tiny insects are a constant annoyance, not only to your flock but also to you as a chicken keeper and, if not kept under control, or eradicated each time they appear, can make your hobby hard work - but before we alarm you unnecessarily, just be vigilant with your birds, take preventative measures and tackle the mites as soon as you see them.

Red Mites live in the crevices of your Coop but feed on the bird at night; Poultry Lice (nits) live on the bird and feed on its skin; Northern Fowl Mites are seen around the head and vent; Depluming Mites burrow into the skin and feather loss occurs; Scaly Leg Mite lives under the scales of their legs – don’t worry we have information on all these pesky pests.
