Scaly leg mite is a fairly common parasite that affects chickens' legs. The mite burrows under the scales, creating a lumpy, irritating growth on their legs. It causes discomfort, pain, and infection if left untreated.
Below you can find topical treatments, such as soothing sprays and ointments, which smother the mites. It can take several weeks of treatment before all signs of Scaly Leg Mite have gone. To prevent recurrence, regularly clean and disinfect the coop and the run to keep the mites at bay.
