Barrier Scaly Leg Ointment is a 100% natural, chemical-free treatment for Scaly Leg Mite, applied directly to the legs, feet, comb, and wattle. It is an ointment combining human-grade lanolin and plant-based essential oils, e.g., tea tree oil and orange oil, to soften the skin, control bacteria, and deter mites.

Scaly Leg Ointment suffocates scaly leg parasites instantly by physical means whilst soothing and calming the irritation.

When buying new birds, always check them over and treat them as a matter of course before introducing them to clean birds. Use Scaly Leg Ointment regularly as a barrier against Scaly Leg Mite.

Directions for use: Apply liberally to the legs from the hocks down and to the comb and wattle, which can also be affected. Affected birds must be isolated as Scaly Leg is extremely contagious. Repeat application every 5 to 6 days to break the egg cycle. When Scaly Leg is diagnosed, all housing should be cleared of bedding and debris and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before applying fresh bedding. Repeat regularly until the infection has cleared.
