Sleeper & Woodchip Pack for Flyte Aviary Coops - The Flyte Aviary 4, 6, 8 and Aviary Grand.
To create a permanent position for your chicken run, why not consider this package to make a secure, fox-proof, level base for your Aviary Coop. By raising the unit on a timber plinth and filling the inside surface with hardwood woodchip, you can make a nice, hygienic surface for the birds.
The Timber Sleepers don't have to be set down or dug into the ground; they are just as effective placed on top of the grass/ground. However, you may find you need to dig them in a little to make them level, which is important for the stability of the run.
The packs contain an appropriate set of pressure-treated timbers, see Details tab, to build a raised plinth with sufficient bags of hardwood woodchip to create a clean surface for the hens.
The hardwood woodchip is an excellent run floor - almost self-cleaning. Just wash through with a garden hose if you haven't had any rain, renew it perhaps twice a year. Liberally scatter some powder disinfectant like the FSF Run Sanitiser over it once a month to keep it fresh.
It is much healthier than bare soil for the birds, and much less smelly too. The woodchip can be placed directly onto the ground; we do not recommend a geotextile underlay (it's not hygienic, and the hens will dig it up).

The Pack contains a set of pressure treated timbers, 10in x 5in (250mm x 125mm), to build a raised plinth for the Run frame to sit on.
Included are enough bags of hardwood woodchip to create a clean, perfect surface inside the run area.
The Sleepers are cut to the lengths required to suit this layout. The max. length of any single sleeper is 4ft (1220mm), a detailed layout plan is included.
Delivery is via Palletline carrier. If ordered with your housing the sleeper pack will all arrive at the same time.

Absolutely brilliant. Easy the put together. Looks great. Chickens love it, so happy digging around and the chipping stay within the coop.
The size of the sleepers are such that they are easily handled and manoeuvred. Although a bit of a challenge to get them all level (a spirit level is useful), the level surface made erection of the aviary so much easier. They look great and I have confidence that the sleepers, as well as pavers around the outside edge, will help deter Brere Fox from digging into the run.
We are very pleased with Flyte so fancy products and would highly recommend them.

From the moment I contacted Flyte so Fancy I had nothing but brilliant service and nothing was too much trouble. I added items to my order, I moved the order delivery date and rang up for reassurance that I would be able to construct the coop and aviary. At all times my questions were answered quickly, I was given reassurance and the order was changed without question.
The coop and aviary is amazingly simple to put together, (the instructions are excellent), alot easier than furniture from a well known Swedish company and it is solid, it is going to keep my girls very warm and snug. I would recommend the timber skirt as it prevents the girls from flicking the woodchips everywhere because they love scratching through it.

Great service, very friendly and helpful staff. Chicken house and run is very well made and sturdy. Instructions were clear and easy to follow with colour step by step guides. The coop is very well thought out. Delivery was very fast which means overall I am very happy with Flyte So Fancy, the girls certainly love their new home!
I did build a high level dust bath and added that to the coop which is a perfect addition. As you can see from the picture we are only half way through the garden renovations but this is a great start.

I had problems ordering online and so called dreary and completed the purchase over the telephone. The gentleman I spoke to was extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. The Sleeper and wood chip pack came as party of the chicken house flat-pack pallet; all ingeniously fitted onto the pallet and easily unpacked once we'd figured out the best order in which to remove the individual items (which on a pleasant Thursday evening, was entertaining - or do we need to get out more?). On assembly, we found the smallest piece of sleeper had been cut too short, but a quick phone call, and a new part was sent a few days later at no additional cost. Excellent service all round!!
