Keep your chickens safe from burrowing predators with our heavy-duty anti-dig wire mesh scratch mat, designed to create a secure barrier beneath your Poultry Protection Pen.

The tight ½" x 1" mesh prevents rats, mice and other digging pests from tunnelling up into the run, protecting your flock and stopping rodents from reaching feed left overnight. By covering the entire base of the pen, the mat forms a strong underground barrier that helps keep unwanted visitors out.

A 10cm protective skirt around the perimeter adds an extra level of defence, discouraging predators from digging in at the edges of the run. If your Protection Pen includes Sleepers, these simply sit on top of the mesh for a secure fit.

Simple to Install: The Scratch Mat arrives as a roll of heavy-duty weldmesh, which is easily unfurled over the ground where your pen will stand. Lay the mesh flat so that the base timbers of the run sit approximately 10cm inside the mesh edge, creating a protective skirt all the way around.

For a more natural and comfortable surface for your birds, simply add a layer of hardwood woodchip over the mesh.
