Flyte so Fancy Poultry Protection Pens - available in sizes from approx. 9ft x 9ft up to 9ft x 24ft.
The Flyte so Fancy Poultry Protection Pen is a large, completely enclosed, walk-in chicken run that comes in wired timber panels for you to simply screw together (full comprehensive instructions and all fixings included!).
Six sizes* are available (see Specifications) for this walk-in chicken run with an option to add a solid translucent polycarbonate roof to create a bio-secure unit and help minimise your poultry's contact with the wild bird population, protect from predators and shelter from the rain.
The Poultry Protection Pen has been tested in all weathers (since 2005!) and is made to be transported in panels. We have designed the Pen so that, once assembled, although it is a lightweight structure, it is robust and structurally stable in high winds.
Completely wired in strong 1 in x ½ in green 18g weldmesh which is small enough to prevent little birds from jumping into the Pen (we don't use 'chicken wire' because foxes will chew through it). See also the Sleeper & Woodchip pack options to raise the Pen onto a solid plinth - more fox-proof than ever!

We offer the option to add a Polycarbonate Roof to the mesh roof panels. This solid roof option will give a UV-stable translucent roof to shelter the ground and keep a large part of the run area dry.
Also available is a choice of Mesh Mating Panel Tunnels to connect your Henhouse to the outside of the Pen - if for a non-Flyte so Fancy House please give measurements.
The Mating Panel would normally be positioned in the gable end opposite the door of the Pen but, if preferred, it can be placed in one of the side panels (please let us know as these two panels are not the same size).
- PLEASE NOTE the exact dimensions are given in the Specifications tab for each Pen as we build in cm (based on wire and timber spec.), to achieve the square footage inside. We round into feet for descriptive names only i.e. each Pen is longer than named and not as wide.
Completely wired in strong 1 in x ½ in green-coated galvanised 18g weldmesh. This very strong welded mesh is stapled to a 38mm x 38mm pressure treated timber framework. All fixings are galvanised heavy duty and the door has a padlockable Brenton Bolt. Side panels are approx 3ft (94cm) wide by 5ft (152cm) high. Head-height maximum inside is 6ft 6in (198cm). The door is 71cm wide x 139cm high.
Dimensions:
- The 9ft by 9ft Poultry Protection Pen at the base is 2560mm (8ft 5in) wide x 2840mm (9ft 4in) deep.
- The 9ft by 12ft Poultry Pen has a footprint of 2560mm (8ft 5in) W x 3780mm (12ft 5in) at the base.
- The 9ft x 15ft Poultry Protection Pen is: 2560mm (8ft 5in) Wide x 4720mm (15ft 6in) Deep.
- The 9ft x 18ft Poultry Protection Pen, suitable not only for chickens, of course, but many other animals and pets. This size measures 2560mm (8ft 5in) W x 5660mm (18ft 7in) D. Please note that for this size or larger it would be very difficult to move the unit as a whole and it may be a consideration to place it on a permanent site using the Sleeper & Woodchip Packs.
- The 9ft x 21ft is a very large Poultry Protection Pen with plenty of room inside for henhouses. This Pen can also be used for many pets, birds, animals (there is even one being used for three poorly seagulls). This Pen measures 2560mm (8ft 5in) W x 6630mm (21ft 9in) D.
- The 9ft x 24ft Poultry Protection Pen, to keep your pets, poultry or birds safe and secure but with plenty of space - it is 210 sq ft. This size is the largest we suggest to maintain rigidity and it measures approx. 9ft by 24ft at the base. Dimensions are 2560mm (8ft 5in) W x 7540mm (24ft 9in) D.
PLEASE check exact dimensions (footprint) for each Pen as we build in centimetres (based on wire and timber spec.), to achieve the square footage inside, but round into feet for descriptive name. Imperial sizes are approximate i.e. each Pen is longer than named and not as wide but the square footage is what counts.

The Pens are delivered flat-packed on a pallet via Palletline carrier. The pallet will arrive as layers of panels, each labelled with a letter, for self-assembly.

We couldn’t be happier with our 9ft x 12ft pen for our 6 hens and 2 rescue doves. Absolutely everything, from the customer service when ordering to the quality of the materials provided was stellar. I needed the door to be on one of the sides rather than the end, this wasn’t a problem at all. The construction was straightforward and two of us built the pen in an afternoon. As we live within a stone’s throw of the sea with lots of migratory birds around, we chose to cover the pen with a custom made heavy duty tarp to future proof against further Avian Flu restrictions. We have such a happy, safe flock now. Thank you.

I run an animal hospice and sanctuary and I need a lot of safe, secure and long-lasting houses for the bird folk here (250 cockerel lads like their comforts!). I've been using Flyte So Fancy for a few years now as their products are easy to put together, and of exceptional quality and visitors often say how nice and well built they are.
Recently, after a bedraggled young Barn Owl called Connie arrived on oor doorstep, I decided to add a soft release aviary for the wild birds in need of a wee bit help in Dumfries and Galloway.
It needed to be specially adapted to meet her needs, and the guys at Flyte So Fancy have been so incredibly helpful at every stage of the process. They thought over the requirements and worked out the solution, adding a standard door in place of two roof panels and constructing a special arm to hold it open, for when she is ready to find her wings in the wild.
I could not be happier that Connie and other owls and raptors will have this wee safe place as they find their wings, and I cannae thank Flyte So Fancy enough for their expert help and advice, all at no extra cost except for the addition of the extra door.

Already had the Salisbury with run extension which was super but soon realised bigger is better so ordered the Poultry Pen for the Salisbury( minus the run) to fit inside. Everything arrived as promised with all that was needed for building down to screws, sealant for the polycarbonate roof and even a gun for it which impressed hubby. Brilliant instructions and such good quality wood and fittings.
Everyone at Flyte so Fancy were incredibly patient with me as I did ask some random questions in my quest for what I wanted. So thanks to everyone and I love it, more importantly so do the Silkies.
Flyte So Fancy were incredibly helpful in sorting out the parts I needed to turn my previously purchased 9 x 15 pen into a 9 x 21 size pen.
My order was quite complicated as I wanted an extra door in the side and also a mating panel in the side and not in the end to connect my existing Maggie Six coop.
My requirements were understood and the delivery was perfect.

Kit received in good order and on time. Construction was trouble-free. Had to remove existing run first but whole job completed in a day very happy.

Amazing quality and detailed instructions so it’s easy to put together. We have lots of items from Flyte So Fancy now and wouldn’t want to get it from anywhere else.
Super piece of kit - absolutely everything needed was supplied from screw head for electric screw driver and mastic gun! Instructions v clear / just struggled a bit with the middle roof structure (had ordered with pre fitted covers) Definitely heeded two to assemble but would suggest a third pair of hands for amateur DIY-ers . Good quality materials and tremendous after sales service

Great run. Really easy to put up. Excellent quality mesh securely fixed to the treated frame. Very confident in the safely of our animals. We used sleepers to make a dig proof base (well sort of dig proof!) Also attached a spring to the door so that it stays shut to avoid playful kids leaving it ajar!

Flytes communication and advice has been exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble and their customer service is first rate. Just received our Poultry Protection Pen and from start to finish the experience has been so easy from changing our delivery date to receiving the items. We were a bit daunted by the number of panels to piece together but the instructions were clear and concise. And it looks great! The Pen looks great. Really well made. Delivered in easy to move sections and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Lovely touch was the tube of sealant and a holder/gun for using it on the roof.
Great product and lovely people to deal with. The runs really last a very long time with no maintenance. Worth the extra for the build quality alone.
We visited Flytes so Fancey and spent time deciding what exactly we wanted, they were so helpful and assisted us in our final decisions. They were delivered when they said they would and the delivery man laid out all the different protection pens, chicken coops, Goose house, Rabit house and runs with all the relevant instructions and fittings.

Very impressed with the service. Anne was really helpful in the pre-sales stage. Everything arrived very well packaged on two pallets on the day it was supposed to. Brilliant. Definitely at least a two person job to build - especially when doing the roof panels but really clear instructions and also a great video on the website. Took about 3 hours to put together. Really impressed with the quality of the panels and wiring as well as the screws that were included. Pilot holes all where they should be - do not attempt construction without a good power driver though! Fantastic product.

I would just like to say, after a slight hiccup with some missing panels for the gable ends, after one call to the Gareth & the team it was sorted. I was able to dig in the sleepers while the missing panels were in transit. The panels arrived the next morning & i was able to complete the 9x18 run; the Chickens love their new home! Thank you once again for such a quick turnaround! With the kindly provided instructions, the protection pen is easy to build, & very sturdy when complete. It sits very nicely in the orchard.
