The Junior Poultry Protection Pen is a completely enclosed walk-in chicken run that comes in wired timber panels for you to simply screw together. Comprehensive instructions included! And you can watch how easy it is on video too.
This is a Walk-in Chicken Run with an (opening outwards) entrance door on the short apex side. Door is hinged left. If you would prefer the door on the long side, please let us know.
Four size options* are available, each is 163cm (5ft 4in) wide and comes in lengths of 9ft 3in long up to 18ft 7in long. Max height inside is 194cm (6ft 5in).
The Junior Poultry Pen has been tested in all weather and is designed to be transported to you in panels. When built - although a lightweight structure - it is a very strong, rigid unit with braces on joints to maintain rigidity.
The door opens outwards and has a sturdy galvanised Brenton bolt so that it can be padlocked if required. Handlebars at each end make this easy to lift and walk (for two people) to a new position.
We offer Mating Panels to suit all our Flyte so Fancy hen houses so that the henhouse can be placed outside the Run and join neatly at one end or, if you let us know, we can make the Mating Panel fit one of the panels in the side of the Pen at no extra cost.
Other options to consider are to add a Polycarbonate Roof to provide shelter and keep the run dry or add an Anti-Fox Weldmesh No-Dig Skirt to prevent predators from digging into the Pen.
To create a more permanent base for your Pen we also offer a made-to-measure Sleeper & Woodchip Pack.
* PLEASE NOTE the exact dimensions are given in the Specifications tab for each Pen as we build in cm (based on wire and timber spec.), to achieve the square footage inside. We round up and down into feet for descriptive names only i.e. each Pen is longer than named and not as wide.
The Junior Protection Pen is completely wired in strong 1-inch x ½ inch 18g green plastic-coated galvanised weldmesh (NOT chicken wire because foxes will chew through chicken wire). This is small enough to prevent little birds from jumping in. The timber frame is 38mm x 38mm pressure treated timber for strength.
Each Pen is 194cm high (6ft 5in) externally, with door width 71cm x 139cm high.

6ft x 9ft Size - 163cm wide (5ft 4in) x 284cm long (9ft 4in). Approx. 50 sq ft of space.
6ft x 12ft Size - 163cm wide (5ft 4in) x 378cm (12ft 5in). Approx. 66 sq ft of space.
6ft x 15ft Size - 163cm wide (5ft 4in) x 472cm (15ft 6in). Approx. 83 sq ft of space.
6ft x 18ft Size - 163cm wide (5ft 4in) x 566cm (18ft 7in). Approx. 99 sq ft of space
Current Delivery approx 3 weeks. This Pen would be delivered flat-packed in panels for self-assembly, carefully wrapped and strapped on a pallet.

Love this coop or as my girlfriend likes to call it , avairy. It comes in easy to assemble pannels and i managed to put it together alone and im not someone who typically works with his hands.
Only annoying bit was i couldnt get the roof at either end to completely come together but it doesn't impact the practicality or look of the run (unless you are super picky. Not sure if this was me or the build as everything else looks great!

Glad to hear you're happy with the Pen. As for the roof panels at the ends, usually this would suggest something isn't quite level at the base - the angle of the roof means that even a small step at the bottom can through out that finish at the apex. But as you said, if you're happy with it aesthetically, it shouldn't have any negative functions impact 😊

This took me about 3 hours to complete. The instructions are very clear and well detailed. It’s good quality wood, the mesh is great quality and the polycarbonate roof (not an expensive add on, you’ll spend more sourcing it yourself and have to cut it) is applied perfectly before delivery. I was going to build another one myself to replace the first piece of rubbish I build but I’m so glad I didn’t try and be cheap on this. It’s a lovely structure and I highly recommend this run and Flyte So Fancy.

We brought the protection pen to allow our girls to have the freedom that they deserve, allowing them to play all day. What can I say, they absolutely love it! We also got the polycarbonate roof, sleepers, bark and fox protection kit. Superb quality all round!

This is the second time we have bought a protection pen from flytrsofancy. Good quality products, comprehensive building instructions and great customer service, but I wish I had gone a bit bigger this time - the junior protection pen is a little on the small side. We must have gone for a larger size at our last property and I didn’t realise .

With regards to the size, the protection pens are built to a modular, panel based design that is shared across both sizes. So if in the future you found that you wanted to expand the space, we can quote for the additional panels needed to increase the Jr Pen to the full sized option, or simply increase the length!

We bought this to increase security against our local thriving fox population and also mindful of bird flu. It went together very easily and marries up to the existing pen. It looks good in the garden and most importantly our ladies are very happy in it!!

Absolutely beautiful Junior Run. Flyte So Fancy were super responsive and helpful about the connecting tunnel. Very helpful on the phone when I was deciding which run to buy and happy to help me change the design of the run slightly (side, instead of end, door) so that it would fit my space. Good to have pre fitted to run.
I purchased this for my rabbits as an extra run for them. The build quality is excellent and very sturdy. The intructions were easy to follow and clear. Good communication from Flyte so Fancy so can recommend them totally
Friendliness of telephone contact and delivery personnel Very good but a bit heavier than the on site information leads you to believe.
The customer service team were great and answered all my queries which helped me to assemble my new run. The roof was attached pre delivery as I purchased it at the same time as the run.
Excellent service from Flyte as usual, but in this day and age, I really think using a delivery service which provides some indication of arrival times is essential. Waiting in from 9 - 5, for a delivery which comes at 5 past 5, is annoying. A four hour range would be acceptable, but with current technology it should be possible to be even more precise. No reflection on FSF. As usual, excellent quality, thank you. Really happy with this pen, just need to learn not to bang my head on the door frame! I have several FSF coops now, can't better them.
Thank you for your feedback Lynda - yes we really wish the pallet companies would do like the couriers, and we have asked them, but it seems that because they deal mostly with businesses (and sometimes drivers have to wait quite some time to offload which is unpredictable) rather than residential, it is not possible for depots to give a timescale. In this day and age though vehicle tracking should be more readily available for us, I agree. We can sometimes force a window out of them on the day though so if you wish please do just give us a call.
Excellent product and very fast delivery
Really helpful telephone staff who were able to answer my questions, thank you to Jamie and James. Looks really good, disappointed when it arrived as when I unpacked it from the pallet two of the roof panels had something brown spilled on the inside which I had to clean off.
