Dorset Ranger Ten Chicken Coop

Very pleased with my Dorest Ranger 10 chicken coop. My old coop was purchased 20 years ago from Flyte so Fancy and has had a long life but I need an upgrade I could move on my own on the paddock. It is very well designed and sturdy and was easy to assemble with 2 people. I can’t quite move it with one hand but can move it easily enough to fresh ground each week. Love the sliding roof and house design. My 6 bantams seem very happy with their new home.

Our Dorset Ranger arrived part assembled on the neatest and best packaged pallet delivery I’ve seen. All credit to Flytesofancy for sending it 3 days earlier than my initial request date on my order and the Palletline driver who did an expert job of unloading it with 1cm clearance each side on the lorry tailgate. We spent the next 2 days painting it (Protek Royal Exterior if you are interested from the pictures) and then went to assembly. First, the build quality and craftsmanship is second to none. All the predrilled holes line up, the written instructions with photos are clear, informative and individually bagged screws (with annotated lengths) makes the whole process straightforward. We did enjoy also watching the fast frame construction videos and a special shout out to Phil on the “ bit of a maths thing going on here” segment which made us chuckle. This home is now setup for some very lucky Buff Orpington’s who are arriving next week. It looks fabulous in the paddock with its 9 foot run and moves about very easily with sturdy wheels. Excellent product with excellent service

As always from Flytesofancy, the build quality is excellent. The house itself feels very solid and secure. Great design. Our hens are definitely enjoying their gradual tour of our paddock.

I’m not easily impressed with the build quality of most things these days so it’s nice to see something made properly for a change. It’s clearly going to last a very long time so won’t need replacing any time soon but I won’t hesitate to come back when it does or I’ve expanded my collection and need housing or runs.

Amazing dorset ranger coop 9 ft run very impressed with whole experience from videos on youtube to phone call before delivery to delivery day all packed very well.
Took two people three hours to put together, all very well made and looks fantastic. Had our first 6 chickens for two weeks now moved around our paddock it is moveable but have to move very slowly as i am concerned how it will last when moved regularly but hopefully be ok. We purchased some hemp bedding and cleaning supplies all great too. Will be ordering again very soon. Thankyou.

Our coop arrived when it was supposed to, was well packaged and undamaged. We were missing a couple of extra items, but after a quick phone call these were delivered two days later. Pretty easy to assemble and completed in around three hours. The coop is very sturdy, looks nice and is of a decent size.

The instructions for assembling the chicken house were excellent. It is really well made and is strong and sturdy. Excellent chicken house. Sturdy and well built and easy to move, even though it is a large contraption !
Easy to clean out and the fact that is on wheels means the sleeping area is well off the wet ground.
The automatic door opener is a real gem ! There was a problem with the first one, but the helpful young man, on the phone, immediately sent out a replacement.....very obliging....good company.
This house has been in constant use for two years and I cannot fault it in anyway, whatsoever .....and have very happy girls !

Really good delivery service, as ever. I wish they had communicated that the pop hole couldn't be altered prior to purchase....see below. Great concept that generally works well for smaller breeds. Well made , but there were a couple of minor problems: we were short of 60mm screws and needed to alter the position of one of the nest box retaining hooks. Additionally I had asked for the pop hole to be made larger if possible. It hasn't been, but nobody got back to me to advise that this wasn't possible with the consequence that my largest hen (an elderly Croad Langshan) has difficulty getting in and out of the house and we now need to make some other provision for her. I wouldn't expect to need to do that having spent over £700 on the set up. I did ring and query how suitable the house would be for larger breeds and I was assured that it was suitable for breeds as large as Brahmas, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this house for large breeds. With larger chickens you will probably also find that only one perch is practical because the space for them to get into position to jump onto the perches is very limited with both perches in situ. I have to say I wish I hadn't bought it for my birds, but that is really because I don't think it works for large breeds. It would be excellent for smaller birds, and it is of good quality overall. If you do purchase, a little tip to make sliding the roof easier and smoother is to run a beeswax candle over the top edges of the house where the roof travels; it's not as easy as it appears on the video!

Efficient, and quick delivery. Webpage very good, plenty of info. and variety of choices. Would recommend, have already done so... They have thought of every eventuality! Excellent quality wood and finish. Well made, well designed, looks lovely, good size coop and splendid run. Easy to assemble. There are 13 bantams installed at the moment, and they have plenty of space, you could possibly house 15 without overcrowding. On a permanent basis, 10 will be living in it and will be very comfortable. I think 10 bigger birds would also be perfectly happy with the space, especially if they have the large run. There are two nesting boxes but these could have been divided into three, which might be better. I have now also ordered the Handy Hen House, with the same excellent 12' run. I am very pleased to have found this company and feel the high standard warrants the cost, it is definitely worth paying more when you receive goods of this excellent quality.

At first I thought a little expensive but you truly get what you pay for and worth it !.
