National Trust Insect Hibernation Tower
A tall wooden Insect Hibernation & Refuge Tower by C J Wildlife.
Standing just over 2ft high this insect tower is made from certified, sustainable timber with a green-painted timber roof.
It is divided into 5 different floors to encourage a wide range of insects to use it for hibernation, breeding or refuge. The different floors of this Insect Tower offer shelter for a variety of insect species.
The tubes at the top are designed for solitary bees, such as Red Mason Bees, to lay their eggs. There is also a section with vertical slots to encourage butterflies, another section that has openings for ladybirds and lacewings, and other insects will happily take refuge within the pine cones.
Insects are integral to achieving a balanced ecosystem in your garden. Species such as ladybirds and lacewings will help to control aphids, and bees deliver an essential pollination service.
You can encourage a wide range of beneficial insects into your garden by providing nesting sites and refuges like this.
