Hardwood Woodchip is an excellent, hygienic, surface for the birds - almost self-cleaning. Just wash through with a garden hose if you haven't had any rain, refresh with new woodchip perhaps twice a year, and scatter some powder disinfectant over it once a month to keep it bacteria-free and fresh.

The packs contain a set of pressure-treated timbers (see Details tab) to build a raised plinth for the 6ft Run section, with matching blocks for the feet of the henhouse itself, and bags of hardwood woodchip to create a clean surface for the hens.
The timber sleepers are softwood tanalised - not oak - and will be cut to the lengths required. Comes with an instruction sheet to aid placement.
The woodchip can be placed directly onto the ground/grass. We do not recommend a geotextile underlay, mainly for reasons of hygiene as the 'poo' will not wash/drain through it, but also the hens will dig it up.

With a 6ft long Run: Max. external dimensions of the plinth frame: 2140mm long by 1118mm wide. With two bags of Hardwood Woodchip.
With a 9ft long Run: Max. external dimensions of the plinth frame: 3080mm long by 1118mm wide. With three bags of Hardwood Woodchip.
The Pack contains a set of pressure treated timbers, 10in x 5in (250mm x 125mm), to build a raised plinth for the Run frame to sit on.
Included are enough bags of hardwood woodchip to create a clean, perfect surface inside the run area.
The Sleepers are cut to the lengths required to suit this layout. The run base frame will sit centrally on the plinth. The max. length of any single sleeper is 4ft (1220mm), a detailed layout plan is included.
Delivery is via Palletline carrier. If ordered with your housing they will all arrive together within the carriage cost of the unit.
