Polycarbonate Roofing for all sizes of the Flyte so Fancy Poultry Protection Pens. Add this option to your order and we will fit this to the roof panels before despatch.
With a solid roof, it will help to keep most of the run area dry, whilst still allowing in plenty of light. It also gives the Pen protection from the droppings of wild birds and other potential contaminants.
A solid, translucent, 6mm twin-wall, polycarbonate roof option for our Poultry Protection Pens. It is affixed to the roof panels (on top of the wire mesh) using special polypins.
The polycarbonate is UV stable and will last for many years, but we advise cleaning twice a year with a detergent solution, e.g. Flyte Mite Spray, and a soft cloth to remove any green algae build-up.
If the roof is ordered at the same time as the Protection Pen, we will attach it to the Pen Roof Panels for you. Otherwise, it will arrive in panels with instructions. Also supplied will be a small tube of silicone to apply to points where the timber panels join.
WARNING NOTE: With a solid roof added to your pen, considering recent UK winter weather, we advise you to ensure that snow is not allowed to accumulate on the polycarbonate roof. Although built to withstand copious amounts of wind and rain, this is to be considered a 'lightweight' structure, and the weight of the snow could damage a solid roof.
Please also note this option is to make the Pen biosecure (as required under Bird Flu Housing Lockdown). Although it will keep most of the rain out, it will not make the roof completely watertight.
Please allow up to 7 days for delivery if ordered separately. If ordered with your Protection Pen the Polycarbonate sheets will be attached to the Roof panels prior to despatch and delivery time will be as per Protection Pen.

I ordered two new pens to make sure I am bird flu compliant…one for the chickens to attach to my handy hen house with a mating panel and a separate one for my ducks. Everything arrived on one pallet all piled high. While each piece had a letter in black ink , there were so many pieces it took ages to sort into piles for each pen. It would have been helpful to have a different colour letter for each pen. Assembly took a little while for us to get “our eye in” but it went well until we got to the roof. The instructions made it sound straightforward but it wouldn’t fit together, until we realised the ground was a little uneven which threw everything out. I wouldn’t have the perspex pre applied if I buy another one as that seemed to make it harder to fit, as it overlaps the edges and is quire rigid. It’s up and it looks smart … Only one more protection pen to go and hoping it goes up quicker than the first one.

Yes it is important to make sure that the units are built as level as possible. If the ground itself isn't level, you may find it easier to build it as sections, rather than panel by panel. That way you can ensure that each side is flush along the bottom and built square to help mitigate any alignment issues towards the end of the assembly 😊

Just received our Poultry Protection Pen and from start to finish the experience has been so easy from changing our delivery date to receiving the items. We were a bit daunted by the number of panels to piece together but the instructions were clear and concise. And it looks great! The roof looks great and gives the hens and me a nice waterproof space. Easy to install

We visited Flytes so Fancey and spent time deciding what exactly we wanted, they were so helpful and assisted us in our final decisions. They were delivered when they said they would and the delivery man laid out all the different protection pens, chicken coops, Goose house, Rabit house and runs with all the relevant instructions and fittings.
They all went together well, really well made products which is why we decided to use Flytes so Fancey. Recommended to a friend already. Excellent idea, keeps the sun and rain out the run

Everything as we ordered. The run looks very good and is added protection from Mr. Fox. Roof gives shelter to the hens when raining. Good idea to remove any snow from it though.

Always really good. Particularly in notifying when parcels will arrive. I am very glad that I bought the poultry protection pen roof. I have had the pen itself for a year, and used it with a tarpaulin held on with elasticated straps.This wasn't ideal ( Rain puddled on the roof and had to be constantly brushed off, plus it flapped in the wind),So as soon as I could I purchased the roof. Despite being a novice at DIY the polycarbonate sheets were fairly easy to put onto the pen. The sheets are light to handle, although tricky in a wind. Although my Protection Pen is a little saggy in the middle ( that would be mu construction skills), the sheets fitted well, just gapping a little at the sides. Driving home the pins was not difficult. I wondered if there would be any splitting of panels or wood - but all was fine. Sealing the ends of the sheets with the sealant is slow work, but will be well worth the effort. I used the remains of the sealant to seal gaps between sheets.
Today it has rained heavily - the first for a month and I am very pleased with the roof. I can see some more holes to plug and a small tarpaulin will be needed on the side where the prevailing wind drives the rain in - but what a difference!

I have used this company a few times for smaller items and the service and delivery was very good.I ordered a 9ft x 12ft protection pen and this was delivered within 8 days of order,on delivery two panels were damaged so I contacted flyte so fancy and spoke to Anne and Phil and they promised me delivery of two new panels next day and by 10.30 am they were at my front door so I wouldn't hesitate using this company again as I received excellent service.
Great communication superb customer service. Product instructions very good but should detail offering side and roofpanels up first before fixing to ensure support struts line up as the panels can be put up without the struts being lined up.

Brilliant personal service Roof generally good, but we found that using a special sealing tape on joins worked better than supplied tube of silicone sealer to stop rain getting through. However rain pours off roof and into pen sides as there's no overhang and we're now trying to find some sort of guttering.
Excellent service, very helpful answering questions and giving advice. More difficult to fit than we had expected and although there is the benefit of keeping the birds dry it also has the drawback that in hot weather it holds the heat and the pen gets very warm inside. I did ask about having a half roof but was advised against it. In retrospect that would have been a better bet.

Not as standard, no, but it is something that can be done as previous customers have done the same thing. In prior instances where this has been done, the polycarb is still positioned to run length ways, rather than the height of the panels, as you do not want to completely seal the enclosure
