Hedberg Wooden Hedgehog House by CJ Wildlife.
The Hedberg Hedgehog House has lots of internal space for the hedgehogs to build nice warm hibernation nests or, to provide a snug, secure space for females to give birth and nurse their young - and they look good too.
Place the Hedberg box in a secluded corner and cover with soil or leaves to boost the chances of the box being used. Hedgehogs like to nest under sheds, hedges and brushwood, but this hedgehog house offers an excellent alternative. Hedgehogs will use the house for hibernation between November and mid-March.
Hedgehog houses should be placed in a quiet part of the garden with some weather protection, such as against a wall, under a bush or under an outbuilding (avoiding areas that flood). To increase the chances of habitation, part-fill the nest chamber with dried leaves. Do not disturb the box while occupied.
The entrance to this hedgehog house is a long narrow passage leading to a more spacious residence. This long tunnel entrance makes it more difficult for predators to reach the hedgehog.
Ventilation holes have also been incorporated into the roof to supply the nest chamber with fresh air. The roof lifts off for seasonal cleaning and the tunnel slides back into the house for storage.
Dimensions: 38cm wide x 39cm deep (59cm incl tunnel) x 32cm high. Made from FSC untreated pine. Ready assembled.
