Dummy Eggs will help to encourage your hens to lay in the correct place or to keep your Broody Hen broody until you can replace them with the correct eggs.
Can also be useful to stop Magpies stealing eggs (although plastic ones are probably best for this and much cheaper) and also to break an egg-eaters nasty habit.
