The Large Chicken Shelter. A field shelter for chickens! Made by Flyte so Fancy, this 5ft x 3ft (approx) Chicken Shelter will suit flocks of up to 10 hens (shown here with our large Brahma chickens).

This Field Shelter will provide good, useful weather protection - from sun or rain - to give the hens a place to go in weather extremes and also to hang the feeder inside to keep it dry - here is our Large Chicken Shelter, suitable for flocks up to 10 birds.

For the Chicken Shelters, we use 16mm T&G pressure-treated timber for the sides and 21mm T&G Shiplap for the roof.

The roof overhangs the open front to provide maximum protection. It comes with two internal perches plus some stainless steel hooks to hang feeders, drinkers or the FSF Boredom Buster...

Delivered in panels for self-assembly with all fixings and instructions supplied. Please see Delivery Tab for delivery timescales.

Quality Kit

I'm told by my nearest and dearest that I'm: 'very picky - always finding fault' (she does talk rubbish sometimes). Anyway, I always prefer to build my own 'stuff' - from the best quality materials (I'm always telling her, 'If a job's worth doing...').
However, this time, after pricing the wood required to build a similar shelter, and also taking into consideration my own personal workload, I opted to buy the middle sized shelter for our chooks.
'Can't fault it.' I announced, stepping back to admire the chooks newly assembled hide-away (she did a double take, went a bit cross-eyed and wobbled back indoors doing that annoying puffing thing she does).
This shelter is well made using the same quality materials I would have chosen.
Note: later at dinner she went quiet for a bit. Then, stabbing a brussel sprout, said, 'So... are you absolutely sure you couldn't find anything wrong with it?'

It's interesting to read a review like this, knowing that i am both people in the story.
Although my long suffering partner perhaps has right to be the picky one when i am notorious for leaving jobs half finished. Coming home, leaving my bag on the half completed shoe rack, carrying more pieces of timber for another garden project, before sitting at the unfinished desk...
It's hardly my fault that now is the time for summer jobs and i have planters to finish...

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review - thrilled to hear that we have met your 'picky' standards. Suffice to say, if by some strange twist of fate, you do have any issues, do let us know 😊

Excellent!

Easy to assemble and solidly built which is a consideration on our windy hillside. We added a pair of carrying handles to make it more manouverable and a bit heavier. Thinking of buying another!

Hello Catherine,

Thank you for taking your time to leave such a lovely review. We're glad you found the assembly easy and we hope you hens enjoy their new shelter!

Lovely "Manger" for the chickens in winter

Just purchased the chicken shelter and am delighted with it. Easy to put together with only 12 screws, and gives my birds shelter from the North winds. And it looks really good and a bit Posh for both me and the girls!

Large chicken shelter

Brilliant product. Easy to assemble and a huge improvement on the old fence panel our chickens previously had as a shelter. Provides cover for food and water and was tested on day 1 with heavy rain and they were happy perched under the shelter. Very pleased.
