ChickenGuard Automatic Door Opener - Premium ASTi

I bought the auto chicken door after spending the last 4 months getting up early to let my newly acquired chickens out and then putting them in and closing the coup door quite late given it’s now July. So I was getting less and less sleep, having to rush back to put them away at night when out for dinner etc.
He fe I decided enough, I need an automatic door. It arrived promptly, is expensive for what it does but that’s the market! I found it hard to programme initially because the first command is “open settings” so I kept pressing into that menu expecting. It to be the overall settings but it wasn’t. It was literally just the settings to open the door- if you continue to press the arrow keys you get to close settings, setting the time etc.
After crouching down in the coup in mid July heat messing with all that I finally set the thing up. Calibration of the door was a bit confusing since the ball seems to do nothing. The door opens but stops before it gets to the little ball on the string. Anyway- I finally managed to get it opened enough for the chickens to get out and it closes fine.

The early morning I set for 6.15 because that’s the time I was letting the chickens out and I know they like routine. I set the closure for 10.30 even though it’s dark now at 9.50 but if it’s warm the chickens often sit outside the coup on the day perches and I have to manually pick them up and put them in. I still have to check but as is cooler and darker earlier every week this is happening less and less. So overall a good purchase and worth the money for the sleep. Great - getting more sleep and not having to rush back home when out.

Thank you for your feedback Catherine. Delighted to hear you are getting more sleep now, they are a godsend aren't they. I would like to help with any programming issues if I can. The experts of course are ChickenGuard themselves if you have problems, but if you need advice please feel free to give us a call. I note you mention the ball on the cord - this is only used during set-up calibration in point 9 of Installation booklet - I will email a copy separately if you wish. Kind Regards, Anne.

Always superb customer service from this company, can't recommend them highly enough. This is a must-have for any chicken keeper in my opinion, no need to interrupt lie-ins at the weekend or stumble around in semi darkness to open or close the chicken coop. Always works perfectly, never had any issues with it.
