NEW - VSD Auto Pop-hole Door Openers

This Vertical Sliding Door Opener for Chicken Coop Pop-hole Doors has been brought bang up to date for 2019 with new features and an improved slimline layout inside.

Introducing the NEW Automatic Door Opener by AXT (makers of the tried & trusted VSB units) - - The VSD.

Can be mounted inside or outside the henhouse. For internal use add the EXTERNAL LIGHT SENSOR

The VSD, like the VSB, is a battery powered Electronic Chicken Coop Door Opener and the redesign now includes more options e.g. LED indicators; replaceable on-board light sensor; the manual override function; slimline casing; additional pins to add mains power, timers and external sensors/indicators. Batteries are included.

The VSD can be mounted on the outside of your chicken house above the sliding pop-hole door (or can be offset with pulleys where space is an issue). We suggest the sliding door is the aluminium option (below) to ensure it remains free-moving throughout the year but, you can add the VSD to a wooden vertical door as long as it moves up and down freely. The cord is very strong with a 40lb breaking strain.

Once set and batteries inserted the VSD will open the door at dawn and close it at dusk by means of a strong cord attached to the pop-hole door. An LED indicator in the lower right will show green for closed and OK, and it will show red if there is an error or battery change needed. A Battery Powered Timer can also be added to give control of opening and/or closing using timed settings.

To manually override the door closing/opening, a red magnet is supplied to touch at the base of the VSB casing and activate the motor to raise or lower the door. FSF Note: the red magnet is quite small so we advise tying a coloured cord/ribbon to it in case you drop it on the ground (makes it easier to find and can also be hung near the VSD perhaps), otherwise it may get lost.

For internal mounting you would place the VSD inside the coop above the pop-hole and add the remote light sensor which connects to two pins on the circuit board. This sensor remotely takes the light levels outside the henhouse to activate the unit inside. You can also add a Remote Manual Control Cable in the same way, so that you do not have to get inside the house to open/close the door if required. Another option is to add an external LED Status Indicator Cable so this can be seen from a distance too.

Dimensions: 125mm x 125mm x 50mm. Batteries are included with the VSD as well as comprehensive instructions for installation making this a very simple to do. No electronic or specialist knowledge needed at all. We offer telephone back up for trouble shooting if required though.

External Light Sensor Cable for VSB Chicken House Door Opener Units.

If you want to convert an External VSB Door Opener to for internal use then this is the cable you need, or, if you just need to replace an existing cable.

The cable is exactly 1m in length and houses a photo cell in one end, also included is a black cap for covering the photo cell on the circuit board inside the unit. You simply attach the cable to two of the pins inside the VSB box, cover the internal light sensor, place the external light sensor on the outside of your house and it will then close the door at dusk.

Light Sensors carry a one year warranty.

(FSF note: for purchases of sensor cable made after 2nd June 2017 the new cable will have a blue stripe around the end senosr. In this case then the wires need to be connected thus: white wire to Pin 6 and brown wire to Pin 5)

Lightweight Aluminium Door with two metal runners for use with the VSB internal or external Door Openers as well as the Chicken Guard Door openers. Three sizes available.

This metal door, being aluminium, will not rust over time and also, unlike many wooden pop-hole doors will not warp, swell or twist in the runners.

Can be fitted inside or outside your chicken house depending on space available. Consists of two aluminium, H profile, runners and one flat aluminium door (as this is aluminium you can cut the door and runners down to a custom size if required).

Small plastic pulley to aid the placement of the VSB where it cannot be placed directly above the pop-hole door. Scroll down to our booklet for more information on placement. Pulleys are 35mm in diameter.

FSF Tip: If using pulleys with your VSB unit you may require extra cord (see below) to attach to the main cord. This will make sure that you can still install the unit with the door in the open position and have the right amount of cord without a strain on the VSB motor.
