Handy Hen Houses

This Small Handy Hen House is a compact hen house for 4 hens - a 'Portable Pocket Henhouse' if you will!

DELIVERED ASSEMBLED.

With a simple Internal Nest Box Tray and a freestanding perch rack, it is spacious enough inside with headroom for a cockerel so it could comfortably take 3 average sized laying hens and a cockerel. Perfect for up to 6 Bantam Hens too.

The Handy is raised off the ground on 6inch legs with a solid 9mm plywood floor and thick shiplap timber walls - see the page on the left About our Houses for details of the materials we use.

The 'Never-Leak' Roof is made of a low-maintenance, light grey, UV stable, recycled polypropylene - no roofing felt for nasty mites to hide in; no leaky corners; lightweight to reduce weight and help portability.

The front door opens wide for access, easy for collecting eggs and easy to clean. It has our heart-shaped perspex window in the door (not compulsory, just cute - let us know using the drop-down box above if you don't want this).

Ventilation louvres on either side also act as carrying handles and they are meshed inside to prevent vermin intrusion. It is raised up on 6-inch legs to help keep it dry and to prevent vermin living underneath. The pop-hole on the right-hand side has a ramp which also folds up to close securely with a galvanised bolt.

Option below to add the VSD Door Opener Kit for a Handy Henhouse which we would fit for you if ordered at the same time as the hen house. Wired Chicken Runs are also available to attach to the Handy 4 Henhouse, 6ft and 9ft long Runs, to keep the hens secure.

Measures externally overall: 84cm wide x 95cm deep x 1m high. Internally: 70cm x 80cm x 76cm high. Pop-hole 25cm wide x 30cm high.

The Handy 10 Hen House is a simply designed mobile chicken house suitable for up to 10 average size hens. It has external nestboxes at the back, two wheels on one side so it can be wheeled like a wheelbarrow and four handles if lifting is necessary.

A large front door gives very easy access for cleaning, there are two removable perches across the width of the house. The pop-hole on the right-hand side has a ramp which, when folded up, is secured by a bolt. Good ventilation, without being in a draught, is important for hens so the Handy Hen House has meshed ventilation louvres on each side.

The External Nest Box is removable for easy cleaning and held in place with cabin hooks on either side, it also has two gravity catches to hold the lid on tight. The 'Never-Leak' Roof and Nest Box Lid are made of a low-maintenance, light grey, UV stable, recycled polypropylene - no roofing felt for nasty mites to hide in; no leaky corners; lightweight to reduce weight and help portability.

Our trade-mark heart shaped polycarbonate window in the door allows light in - and makes it look cute too. If you would prefer no window then please use the drop down box to select.

There are options to add a 9ft or 12ft Run which would attach to the side of the house and you can fit an internal automatic door opener e.g. VSD kit or Chickenguard AS model with door.

The Handy 15 Hen House, for up to 15 hens. This is a large, practical, timber chicken house with wheels to make it mobile.

The Handy 15 is a very functional, mobile poultry house which will accommodate up to 15 hybrid size hens or 12 and a cockerel, and with the fixed axle wheels on one end you can lift like a wheelbarrow and wheel to new ground (it is a heavy hen house though).

This hen house arrives ready assembled, it has a spacious inside, the floor is approx 5ft x 3ft, with three 5ft long perches. There is an external nest box to the rear, a very large front door and double ventilation louvres on either side which are meshed on the inside to small prevent predator intrusion. The removable roof is made of a dark brown resin-coated board making it easy to remove when cleaning, but still ensuring your hens remain dry and safe inside.

Measures overall externally (inc handles): 1.93m wide x 1.40m deep (incl. nestbox) x 1.29m high; Internally: 1.53m x 0.92m x 1m high. Depth excl wheels 96cm. Height excl wheels and legs 107cm. Pop-hole size: 30cm W x 35cm H.

A 6ft long enclosed wired run to fit to the side of our Handy 4 Hen House. Run size is approx 3ft high x 2ft 3in wide and 6ft long.

It has a pop-hole at the end of the run, for the hens to 'pop' in and out if you wish, or for you to access a feeder. It secures against the pophole side of the house with a hook and chain and has a bracing bar to ensure the birds cannot escape under the house itself. Access near to the house is from a top access panel of the run.

A 6ft Run will provide enough space for 3 - 4 bantam hens if using for enclosing them permanently, however, we would advise that for more or larger birds that it be used only for relatively temporary periods e.g. whilst at work to keep them safe, or to home them when they are new. This is not only for the welfare of the birds but also because the ground would become muddy very quickly.

A robust square section run made in long panels, it is wired in strong half inch x one inch galvanised weldmesh (green plastic-coated) on pressure treated timber framing.

It has a pop-hole at the end for access and for you to allow the hens out if you wish. It meets the hen house pop-hole (it sits neatly under the ventilation louvres) and it has a side door for you to reach to the pop-hole of the house.

The run is made in panels for you to screw together, full instructions included. Please note the area you would need to be able to place the house and run together, on fairly level ground if possible, it makes a long unit (up to approx 18ft). Run size is approx 3ft high x 3ft wide and 12ft long.

We have put together a complete VSD Kit for the Automatic Door Opener to suit FSF Handy Hen Houses, so you can buy the kit in one click. Shown here mounted inside the Handy 10 Henhouse (Handy 4 varies slightly due to pop-hole position and perches).

If ordering at the same time as the hen house we will fit it for you, if retro fitting, the VSD and lightweight door are fitted inside the henhouse so the pop-hole ramp remains as it is.
