Flyte Treecreeper Nest Box

Ref: TREECREEPER

Price: 18.95 (Including VAT at 20%)

Quantity:

Flyte so Fancy Treecreeper Nest Box. Tough wooden nesting box specifically designed for Treecreepers using 20mm thick pressure treated timber with a chestnut brown protective coating applied for longevity and to help it blend into its surroundings.

These lovely little birds are very hard to spot but love mature trees where they can scuttle up and down the bark looking for insects and spiders. They root these out with their long thin hooked beaks as they work their way up the trees.

Treecreepers are very common in the UK but their feathers camooflage them very well against the bark so often you may just see a little movement perhaps and then they freeze so you can't see them easily.

Their nests are made where the bark comes away slightly from the tree trunk so these nestboxes replicate that wedge shape and access hole position to encourage them to use the nestbox and keep them safe. Although not endangered as a species they do find it increasingly hard to find the perfect nesting places.

Dimensions: 35cm long overall; 14.5cm wide; house section is 27cm high with max. extension to 13cm. The entry hole has a 45mm radius. Weight approx 1kg. Hinged access lid for cleaning has a small solid brass hinge.

Large Blackbird Nesting Box, made in Dorset by Flyte so Fancy.

The Flyte Blackbird Nest Box - A NEW ADDITION TO THE FLYTE SO FANCY RANGE OF GARDEN BIRD BOXES.

The roof is held in place with a screw for more access when cleaning the nest box at the end of the season.

Siting of your Blackbird Nest Box
Blackbirds are one of our most common garden birds in the UK and its mellow song is very identifiable. They love gardens with trees and shrubs where they can feast on insects, worms and berries. The breeding season lasts from early March to late July, and chicks are often found in a nest well into August. Mount the nesting box 1.5m - 2m above the ground in a sheltered, shady spot preferably facing south east and protected from any prevailing weather. If too high they may not use it and if too low predators (cats) will easily access the chicks. The nest box can be cleaned out between October, once the last brood has flown, and January as many birds start looking for a nest in Jan-Feb.

The Flyte Wooden Swift Nesting Box. Encourage these beautiful, and endangered, birds to nest and breed by placing these boxes under the eaves of your house, outbuilding or barn.

The acrobatic Common Swift makes an epic migration to the UK around May each year and the loss of nesting sites means they are in decline. Our Swift Nesting Box simply hangs under the eves with just two screws and makes a great accommodation for these magnificent birds.

The sloping roof protects against extremes of weather and offers maximum durability. The roof is screwed shut to prevent predators such as squirrels from stealing eggs or chicks but can easily be unscrewed for cleaning and mounting.

Handcrafted here in our Dorset workshop and constructed from the best quality, slow-grown, joinery-grade, Scandinavian Redwood. The 20mm FSC Approved close-grain timber has excellent insulation properties to keep the birds warm in winter and cool in summer. All screws are double-plated, so your bird nesting boxes will last you for many years to come.

Each nest box has the corners sanded and has been finished in a Nano-Tech coating for long term preservation against fungal attack and rot. Perfectly bird-safe. Available in Natural Green or Chestnut Brown, the colours are unobtrusive and will match with most garden decor.

Overall (external) measurements:
Width: 46cm; Height: 20cm; Depth: 18cm (front to back); Entry Hole Size: 7cm wide by 3cm high;
Colour Choices: Natural Green or Chestnut Brown
All Flyte Nesting Boxes carry our Flyte so Fancy Quality Stamp.

Siting of your Swift Nest Box:
Site your Swift Nest Box under the eaves - Swifts make very little mess and are only likely to be nesting for about 12 weeks. If you are installing a nest box for a family of swifts for the first time it may take a few seasons to be discovered, so be patient but having made a house there, you can expect them to return year after year.

A large, tall, Nest Box that is suitable for a range of larger wild birds like Woodpeckers, Starlings, Little Owls and Doves.

The Woodpecker & Starling Box has two perches and a large entry hole for the birds, it is designed with a deep nest to make the birds feel secure inside. The depth of the box also allows Woodpeckers to create a deep concave nest for brooding and you may like to add some soft matter to encourage them. The roof is hinged on two small brass hinges to give access for annual cleaning but screwed down to prevent predators.

Woodpeckers are losing a great deal of their natural habitat i.e. dead trees, so it is nice to be able to provide help for these amazing and colourful birds. Starlings may not be welcomed by everyone, but they also have seen a steep decline in numbers over recent years due to changes in habitat availability. However, they are important to the ecology of an area as they are a natural pest controller (they like oak leaf rollers and gypsy moths).

If positioned in the right place this box is also suitable for Little Owls who have a wide ranging habitat; also garden doves who, although seemingly plentiful, are finding a shrinking natural habitat.

This Woodpecker-Starling Box is made here in our Dorset workshop and constructed from slow-grown, pressure treated, Scandinavian Redwood. The 20mm close-grain timber is FSC® Certified and has excellent insulation properties to keep the birds warm in winter and cool in summer.

Each nest box is finished in a nano-tech coating for long term preservation against fungal attack and rot. Perfectly bird-safe. Available in Natural Green or Chestnut Brown, the colours are unobtrusive and will match with natural garden foliage.

Can be mounted in trees, on fences or buildings facing away from prevailing weather. Install at least 3m high where flight access is easy but away from a cat's reach. When cleaning, do ensure you eradicate any fleas as these can harm next seasons fledglings.

Dimensions: 60cm tall overall x 30cm front to back overall. The nest box itself is 20cm front to back and 50cm tall. The landing perches are 10cm long with the entry hole being 70mm dia.

Durdle Door Garden Bird House

Ref: DURD-BH

Price: 245.00 (Including VAT at 20%)

Quantity:

Durdle Door Wall Mounted Garden Bird House, made in Dorset by Flyte so Fancy to their Framebow design.

An elegantly curved arch bird house which will make a truly gorgeous featurette for your garden. Easy to mount on to a wall, fence or timber building. The nesting holes are 60mm in diameter so will encourage a wide range of garden birds from Blue Tits to Starlings.

Suitable as a home for most kinds of nesting garden birds like the Tit family, Sparrows, Finches, Flycatchers and Nuthatches.

Nestled here amongst the Jubilee Roses here it looks an absolute treat to the eye. Imagine it filled with a bustling hive of chirping garden birds enjoying their luxury home.

Handcrafted here in our Dorset workshop and constructed using FSC approved, pressure-treated, joinery-grade, Scandinavian Redwood. The arched roof is 25mm T&G Shiplap timber whilst all other walls and floors are 19mm T&G boards. Before it leaves us we apply a clear waterproofing to the roof but, if you wish to paint the Bird House when it arrives, we advise a light sanding to remove this coating before paint application. A good quality outdoor microporous paint is recommended.

We advise an annual maintenance regime to clean thoroughly internally and an application of wood oil or clearsealer applied externally. The front panel is removable for easy cleaning. With this simple maintenance your Bird House will be protected against all weathers, and the pressure treated timber keeps out rot and fungal attack for 15 years. The Bird House should be mounted in place by screwing from the inside back panel into your wall or fence.

Dimensions (external): 84cm wide at the base; 45cm deep (front to back); 72cm high (approx. 2ft 9in wide x 1ft 6in deep x 2ft 4in high).

Delivery: The Durdle Door Bird House will be delivered ready assembled. Current delivery time is approx. 2 weeks. When we receive your order, we will email to arrange a suitable delivery date for you.
