A Short History ...

We (Phillip and Anne Weymouth**) wanted to specialise in making hand-built, high-quality Poultry and Animal Houses that are traditionally made of timber, and as eco-friendly and 'organic' as possible. So we opened Flyte so Fancy in our workshop 'at the bottom of the garden' in 2001.

Hampton Court Palace Show 2012 Flyte so FancyWe began beavering away designing the alphabet - Aviaries, Bird Boxes, Chicken Coops, Dovecotes, Egg Boxes ... you get the gist. We soon found ourselves featured in national magazines like Country Life, English Garden, The Garden, Country Living, Countryside, Landscape, Practical Poultry, and more ...

Then there was the Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, Guardian ... which led to Hampton Court Palace Show 2012 & 2013, Tatton Park 2013, New Forest Show, Royal Bath & West Show, Grand Designs Excel - Phew, what a journey!

Twenty years later our aims are still the same ... We have an amazing and wonderful Flyte so Fancy crew and they are - Daniel (General Manager), Maggie (Finance & HR), Ellie (Sales & Marketing). Mark (Workshop Foreman), Jon, Zak, Aiden, Toby, Paul (Workshop); Phil (Warehouse Supervisor), Andy (Site Foreman), James, Katie (Packing/Despatch), plus Dee & Rob part-time.

We must also mention and thank all the chaps that helped us so much, for shorter periods, during the pandemic 2020 to 2022 - Matt, Toby2, Paul1, Paul2, Kevin, Debbie, David, Tina, Sharon, Sarah, Lucie, Milly, Maddie, Molly, Gabe, Lee, James, Harry, Dean, Ollie, Joe, Jessica, Lizzy, and Matty.

Pure Quality from Flyte so Fancy

Phill & AnneOver the years, we used our knowledge of design and love of wood, plus our long experience of poultry keeping, to produce beautifully crafted Hen Houses finished to a high standard.

All the housing and stores on this website have been designed and developed (by Phillip and Anne) over the years and are unique in their structure and build quality.

From our very early days of making Dovecotes and Aviaries, we found there was a big demand for 'really nice' Hen Houses. So we made Wooden Housing where customers know they will get something that not only looks good, is handmade here in Dorset, but will also last for many, many years.

In June 2021 we launched our new Flyte so Fancy website and brought our sister websites of Dorset Log Stores (Log & Garden Stores) and Framebow Pet Housing (Catios, Rabbit Houses, Aviaries) all under one umbrella. Joined in 2023 by our 'Outwoodly' (Garden Timber) website.

If you have any questions about our products, how we make them or indeed about the correct housing and products to suit your needs, please feel free to Message Us, or call us on 01300 345229.

We have been keeping chickens, ducks, and all kinds of other birds and animals (including pygmy goats!), ourselves for over 30 years and have picked up 'one or two ideas' in that time, as everyone does. We are quite happy to offer advice from our own experiences if required.

We have created several pages here on our website - in the Information Centre - answering many of your questions on topics such as Red Mite, Feather Pecking, Poultry diseases, and even which breeds of poultry to buy. Then, why not also visit our Ask Phill YouTube video series where you will find lots of hints and tips on all manner of subjects.

With best wishes
Phillip and Anne **

If you want to know more ...
**
Phillip and Anne Weymouth are founders and directors of Flyte so Fancy Ltd in Dorset, UK, a company specialising in poultry husbandry. With over 30 years of experience in small-scale poultry keeping, they are passionate and knowledgeable about their care, treatment and housing.

Anne & Phill created Flyte so Fancy in 2001 to make 'proper', eco-friendly, and robust housing for poultry and many other pets and animals. They believe that providing the right housing means they can live in comfort and safety.

Having also found a demand for their sage and uncomplicated advice, they have used their experience to dispense this to help hobbyists that are new to keeping poultry. And equally, to aid some more committed chicken keepers seeking pragmatic and sensible husbandry solutions.

Phillip has made many videos on caring for creatures, which have become very popular, and Anne has written numerous in depth articles and blogs over the years, all with the aim of giving information in a clear and practical way. Their Flyte so Fancy Team are also well trained to provide any telephone advice they can for all kinds of poultry problems no matter how small (no pun intended!).

Over the last 26 years, since moving to their little smallholding in Dorset, Phillip and Anne have accumulated and bred a wide variety of chickens and ducks as well as geese, guinea fowl, quail, game and turkeys. Then there are the Alpacas, the Pygmy Goats, and Rabbits and Guinea Pigs too ... not to mention a lifetime of Dogs and Cats, of course.
