Maggie's 24 Hen House

The Maggie's 24 Hen House is a large traditional-style Hen House designed for the more determined poultry keeper with room inside for approx. 24 (medium sized) hens - in reality it could house over 30 smaller hens/bantams quite easily.

As this is quite a 'heavy house', we have made it 'flatpacked' as much as possible so that it can be delivered easily and then erected (with full instructions - only need a cordless screwdriver) in less than an hour.

The Maggie's Henhouses are constructed with a 1" (21mm) thick tongue & groove shiplap roof, tongue and groove walls and the base is built onto 14" legs so this is a really solid heavy henhouse. There is a secure pop-hole which opens to be a ramp and a large access door at the back. The heart-shaped polycarbonate window is not compulsory, just let us know if you do not want the window.

A pull-out droppings board under the four removable perches aids the 'never easy' cleaning process and the nest box section lifts off for even better access. The nest boxes are split into four separate compartments so that the hens have more privacy for laying.

There is a ventilation grille with night shutter opposite the nest boxes and above the perches providing a good flow of fresh air, and the access panel for the droppings board is underneath (see photographs below). Although this size of house would not normally be moved on a regular basis, we can fit timber skids and towing eyes (shown in photograph and available to add on at £40) to the legs so that it can be moved with a small vehicle or quad/tractor if necessary.

Option to add the VSB automatic pop-hole opener: For this house you would need an internal VSbi and a large lightweight door which we would make of ply timber to suit this house.

A pair of wooden skids for our Maggie's Hen Houses, with towing eyes attached to the each leg, so that you can move the hen house when required with, for example, a 4 x 4 vehicle or Quad Bike.
