Hotline P500 Falcon Energiser (12v)

The Hotline P500 Falcon 12v Energiser is a multi-purpose unit for general farm use, with its own four prong metal stand.

The same unit is available as a solar unit with a 10w solar panel and internal battery - see Falcon Solar.

It has 1.2 Stored Joules and high and low power settings. It can power up to 15 x 50m sheep nets, up to 10 x 50m lengths of electrified rabbit netting, or up to 5 x 50m poultry nets. And it can power up to 18km total length of tape or wire.

The Falcon has two output levels and is powered by a 12v re-chargeable leisure battery (link below). The amp/hr rating of the battery will determine the charging interval, for example a 85amp/hr battery will require charging every 4-6 weeks.

When animals are first introduced to the electric fence the fencing unit is set to high for about 7 days. This allows the animals time to get accustomed to and respect the fence line. After this initial period the fencing unit can be switched to low to conserve battery life.

If the electric fencer is being used to keep animals out, e.g. with poultry netting to keep out foxes, badgers, mink etc, the unit should always be set to high.

We recommend an earth stake at least 1m in length be used with a 12v system. The LED will flash Green when the unit is working correctly, but will change to red when the battery requires re-charging. A buzzer will sound if the battery terminals are connected incorrectly.

This 85 amp/hr, re-chargeable 12v Leisure Battery comes with a built-in charge level indicator and carry handle. It also has double terminals so it can take a trickle charge whilst being used. Heavt Duty battery for leisure and marine use.

We always recommend the use of leisure-type batteries with electric fencing. They are designed to be discharged and then re-charged whereas car batteries are not. This battery should have a life of 200 cycles so will last quite a number of years.

Although a charge will last approx 6 weeks we do recommend that they are recharged every 2 weeks or so to keep the battery in best condition. This battery has a depth of discharge of 70% and we have found that if allowed to discharge fully it could damage the plates and it will be very hard to get it to take a full charge properly again. Also, we do recommend with this battery that at least a 7 amp battery charger be used if possible.
