Farm & Smallholder Electric Fencing Kits

A basic, post and tape, battery powered electric fence kit suitable for many uses from strip grazing to training pets and keeping nuisance animals out of the garden, or stopping next doors Llamas nibbling the Roses!

This Green Post and tape kit includes either short, dark green 75cm Tread-in posts (max fence height with these posts is 60cm/24"), which are ideal in a garden situation and for smaller animals, or dark green posts at 108cm (36" finished fence height) - for the same price - and uses 200m green electro-tape which is 20mm wide.

This kit can do a 200m single line fence, a 100m two-line fence, or a 50m long four-line fence. Powered by the simple-to-use Shrike 3v Energiser which works off 2 D Cell batteries and can hang on the earth stake. It could power up to 800m of single line fence. Don't forget though that with lower power 3v energisers it is easy to create a drain on the system by repeated contact with the fence and it will also be less efficient in extremely wet weather.

Options to add to this basic kit are:- More Green Green Posts, Green Electro-Tape or an Economy Reel to stop the tape getting tangled when moving it. Or, include a Pocket Fence Tester which will let you know if the fence is working correctly.

A simple and effective way of keeping Goats where you want them. Using Electric Goat Netting you can make a secure and flexible enclosure.

This Electric Goat Netting from Hotline stands 105cm high with 9 electrified polywire horizontal strands and one non-electrified strand at the bottom. Mesh size is 16.5cm wide x 11.6cm high.

This 85 amp/hr, re-chargeable 12v Leisure Battery comes with a built-in charge level indicator and carry handle. It also has double terminals so it can take a trickle charge whilst being used. Heavt Duty battery for leisure and marine use.

For use with any 12v Electric Fence Battery Energiser e.g. Hotline Hobby Energiser, Hotline Gemini, Gallagher BatteryMaster, Wolseley Midge etc.

We always recommend the use of leisure-type batteries with electric fencing. They are designed to be discharged and then re-charged whereas car batteries are not. This battery should have a life of 200 cycles so will last quite a number of years.

Although a charge will last approx 6 weeks we do recommend that they are recharged every 2 weeks or so to keep the battery in best condition. This battery has a depth of discharge of 70% and we have found that if allowed to discharge fully it could damage the plates and it will be very hard to get it to take a full charge properly again. Also, we do recommend with this battery that at least a 7 amp battery charger be used if possible.
